We’re on prem install only
Reading about oracle 23 new feature shrink tablespace. Where we can avoid running our own scripts to move objects around to trim our tablespaces.
I read a comment https://oracle-base.com/articles/23/bigfile-tablespace-shrink-23 that said it moves the tables to reorganize the objects. I’m guessing this online table move. Which can work great except if you have a basic partitioned table this would fire a usage of advanced compression which a lot of sites, including ours, don’t have.
We use online dbms redef to move our partitioned tables in our home brew scripts for this reason which doesn’t trip the adv usage.
Does anyone have a 23 install they could try this on and see does it trip the licence usage for it? Not that it matters too much but was a feature we had been getting excited about using when 23 eventually landed.
