Oracle Database Discussions

Hi All,

I recently was assigned a new project to replace the 9i database to 11g. The application is old and it was developed using Merant 3.6 ODBC as it's driver.

The application connects to the 11g DB ok, however, performance is a big issue. The log on screen within the application takes 3 mins.
When we run some of the application SQL queries directly in the database, they fly. Going thru the application they are very slow.

We believe the ODBC driver is the issue (merant 3.6). The vendor of the application states for us to go to a new driver would require a major rewrite of the application.

As anyone encounter this problem with merant 3.6 ? Any potential solutions we could try ? Is there something within the DB configuration that would make the Merant 3.6 driver work better ?

Is there a newer version of Merant that we could try that would work with the application commands (in other words...are compatible with the Merant 3.6 ?)

Please advise...This is a highly critical application and issue.
