Oracle 11g R2 Grid installation does not detect the ASM disks

Hi Guys,

I am trying to install Oracle 11g R2 RAC and as part of the Grid installation, the installer does not detect the ASM disks.

Here are the outputs to some commands.

[root@rac1 ~]# oracleasm scandisks

Reloading disk partitions: done

Cleaning any stale ASM disks...

Scanning system for ASM disks...

Instantiating disk "ASMDATA2"

Instantiating disk "ASMDATA1"

[root@rac1 ~]# oracleasm listdisks

ASMDATA1

ASMDATA2

[root@rac1 ~]# ls -ls /dev/oracleasm/disks

total 0

0 brw-rw---- 1 grid asmadmin 252, 3 May 14 17:18 ASMDATA1

0 brw-rw---- 1 grid asmadmin 252, 2 May 14 17:18 ASMDATA2

I have already tried reconfiguring Oracleasm (oracleasm configure -i) but no luck.

I would really appreciate some help here as its been past few days now and want to finish the installation asap
