Oracle 11g Data Warehouse - RAID1+0 or RAID5?

644807May 3 2010 — edited May 4 2010
Hi all,

For an Oracle 11g DWH implementation, which disk arrangement is preferred if only the data load & query performance are taken into consideration: RAID1+0 or RAID5?

Moreover, does RAID5 also automatically stripe data (i.e. RAID5 = RAID5+0)?

Ofcourse RAID5 will only protect against a single disk failure (in case of no hot spare); with RAID1+0 protecting against multiple disk failures.

Please advise which one is the preferred option.
