Oracle 10g R2 installation on a directory with cio (concurrent IO) option

I tried to reinstall my Oracle 10g R2 (10.2.0.1) on AXI 5.3L with -o cio option. If I want to mount the subdir with cio option, do I have mount it before I install the Oracle using the subdir or after the installation? tried once yesterday and it was very slow. That was not like such 2 months ago, when there was no cio option for the subdir. All the filesystems were recreated before installation.
