Oracle 10g installation Ora - 12638 ora-03114

Hello

I am trying to install oracle 10g database on windows xp professional edition. But I am getting a lot of errors installation process. Firstly I used to get a protocol adapter error when installing and database configuration assistant is not installed properly. Now I am getting ora-12638 and ora -03114 while installing. Because of this problems I cannot connect to oracle from JDeveloper and can not do application development. Is there a way to install oracle without problems . Please help. I tried everything.....
