ORA-32001 error

hello

i got following error while running following command on physical database

ALTER SYSTEM SET LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1='LOCATION=e:\arch_itch\oradata
MANDATORY' SCOPE=BOTH;

*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-32001: write to SPFILE requested but no SPFILE specified at startup

i have created spfile for primary database but the primary database starts up with inititch.ora file

cud anyone tell me whats the prob
