ORA-32000: write to SPFILE requested but SPFILE is not modifiable

Hi All,

2 NODE Rac...11.2.0.3...
Get the above error when trying to modify in-memory parameters like pga_target.

I created a pfile but it was also created as a pointer to the spfile.

This is the content of the PFILE;

cat initrefapexp2.ora
*.SPFILE='/oradata_rac/oradata/refapexp/spfilerefapexp.ora'

So i guess the question is, do I just copy a generic init.ora file and modify that way?
What is the cause for above error?

File perms are 755. Probably not the answer...

select distinct issys_modifiable from v$parameter;
