ORA-29276 when trying to retrive POP3 email using utl_tcp

MartijnkeJun 21 2008 — edited Jun 24 2008
Hi all,

I use the code found here :
2020101

I just can't get it to work, tried everything
changed the pipelined function to a procedure that stores the mail server responses in a table
USER, PASS, LIST, STAT all work perfectly
RETR does not
I've tried read_line, get_line, read_text, read_raw, played around with connection time-out settings
they all cause transfer timeout (ora-29276)
all works fine in a telnet session
in PL/SQL
RETR 1 returns +OK followed by the number of bytes in the message
however if after that I issue utl_tcp.available it returns 0
so I can't seem to get to the email message

I use oracle XE on windows XP SP2
(even turned firewall and virus scanner of, no effect)

however after days of trying I have found TOP to be working
but woul like to use RETR as TOP is not supported by all mailservers

this is driving me nuts :)
