ORA 27100 Shared Memory Realm already exists

89431Jun 11 2002
I posted a question about a Protocol Adapter error this morning. Since then my
problem has moved.

I tried to create a new database last night an ran out of proces space. I tried to remove it but could not because the database could not be opened. Today, I decided that this was part of my SQLPlus protocol problem and recreated the new database. It works fine as well as all but one other. That databse doesn't. It is shut down and will not start up. When I first tried to start it from DBA studio, I got a Java NullPointer error followed by an ORA 27100 shared memory realm already exists error.

Before all of this started, I created a table in the now uncooperative database using JDBC with the oci8 driver. Could this be part of the problem?

I ran svrmgrl and did a shutdown abort and tried to start again. Now I just get the shared memory realm error. I have stopped and started services and rebooted but it keeps happening. How can I fix this?
