ORA-20060 error

Previously had oracle 7.3 running on our Honeywell server, have today replaced server with one running 8i, when we try and connect to this server via servers running 7.3 clients (problem?) it connects ok (in odbc test) but the jobs/stored procedures (in sql server 7) won't run which are needed to transfer data to tables on the oracle server. The error is [oracle][ODBC Oracle driver][Oracle OCI]ORA-20060:Output to PHD:(insert)couldn't receive the message,status =1.(guess the last bit isn't so relevant) Sorry for tedious question, but anybody ideas as to a solution?
