ORA - 17008 on client machine

Hi,

I installed oracle 10G 10.2.0.1.0 (32 bit for windows) on the server. Then when I login to the database through SQL developer or SQL prompt or through the application server (websphere 6.1) on local machines and after I keep the session ideal for sometime (say about a minute or so) I am getting a connection closed message "Connection closed ORA - 17008". It then asks me to reconnect and this keeps on happening frequently.

I also installed SQL developer on the oracle server and there this issue isn't reproducible.

I also checked with the server team and network team but there aren't any issues in the network or the server.

Can someone suggest a solution for this issue?
