ORA-16004: - while opening physical standby database (Data Guard)

Hello All,

Oracle Version:9.2.0.0
OS: Windows 2000 server SP4

I use the below link to create configure the physical standby database.

I got an error at step 12 when i was trying to open the standby database in read only mode.

SQL> alter database open read only ;
alter database open read only
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-16004: backup database requires recovery
ORA-01152: file 1 was not restored from a sufficiently old backup
ORA-01110: data file 1: 'E:\ORACLE\ORADATA\STANDBY\SYSTEM01.DBF'

can any one help me how can i resolve this issue. As i take the cold backup and restore it.
