ORA-15149: another ASM instance found running on the host

Hi,

i have installed asm on my system, (11gR2 on redhat linux 5) and my asm instance is running,but i am not able to connect to it via sqlplus.

i am getting error

ORA-15149: another ASM instance found running on the host

i have set the variables properly to my knowledge, please help me in identifying the cause of error........

[oracle@linux2 dbs]$ echo $ORACLE_HOME

/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/grid/

[oracle@linux2 dbs]$

[oracle@linux2 dbs]$ echo $ORACLE_SID

+ASM

[oracle@linux2 dbs]$

[oracle@linux2 dbs]$ cat /etc/oratab

orcl:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1:N

+ASM:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/grid:Y

[oracle@linux2 dbs]$ ps -ef |grep smon

oracle 3535 1 0 21:13 ? 00:00:00 asm_smon_+ASM

oracle 4281 3982 0 21:29 pts/2 00:00:00 grep smon

[oracle@linux2 dbs]$

[oracle@linux2 dbs]$ sqlplus / as sysasm

SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.1.0 Production on Sat Oct 25 21:32:05 2014

Connected to an idle instance.

SQL> startup

ORA-15149: another ASM instance found running on the host

SQL>
