ORA-13349 and ORA-13356

We are having our ArcInfo coverage data converted to SDO_GEOMETRY by a contractor. They are using Safe FME for this conversion. The data has been broken into 16 batches for purposes of conversion and production at the same time.
Our problem is that our data reports the errors ORA-13349 and ORA-13356 ("polygon boundary crosses itself" - "adjacent points in a geometry are redundant", repectively) repeatedly as throughout each of these data batches.

Is anyone out there experiencing the same thing with FME conversion? Should FME be "fixing" these problems prior to writing the SDO_GEOMETRY?

Does anyone out there have some procedures that fix these two types of errors?
