Oracle Database Discussions

hi

i have oracle installed on linux and trying to connect to database from window. but both client and server are oracle 10g release 2. i can connect to oracle on the linux machine using sqlplus scott/tiger@service. so no problem on linux system. but when i try to conect throught window system to linux. using the same service name i got

ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

note i have created the service name on window system also. i have a trace file hope some body can help
