ORA-02287: sequence number not allowed here

Hi,
Why do I have this problem?
insert into tab2 select tab2_seq.nextval,eng_cat from (select distinct eng_cat from job_det) a order by 2;

SQL> r
1* insert into tab2 select tab2_seq.nextval,eng_cat from (select distinct eng_cat
insert into tab2 select tab2_seq.nextval,eng_cat from (select distinct eng_cat from
