ORA-01948 when trying to drop ASM disk

taupehatJan 9 2012 — edited Jan 9 2012
Running 11.2.0.2.0 on OEL5.7(x86_64), I've got a bunch of ISCSI mounts attached to an ASM diskgroup, and am in the process of walking the diskgroup over from one SAN to another. All is well until I try to drop a disk:

SQL> alter diskgroup data drop disk '/dev/disk/by-path/ip-10.1.7.210:3260-iscsi-iqn.2001-05.com.equallogic:0-8a0906-dfa328d08-e570000016f4e8a2-apsuat2-data-1-lun-0';
alter diskgroup data drop disk '/dev/disk/by-path/ip-10.1.7.210:3260-iscsi-iqn.2001-05.com.equallogic:0-8a0906-dfa328d08-e570000016f4e8a2-apsuat2-data-1-lun-0'
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01948: identifier's name length (126) exceeds maximum (30)

Obviously some parameter in the ASM config is set to 30 and needs to be considerably longer, but I've googled around and still can't find the answer. We commonly use /dev/disk/by-path/*

I'm wondering - is it possible that we missed a param when we upgraded this machine from 11.1.0.7? But mainly that param is the one I'm looking for.
