ORA-01861 Literal does not match format string

Hi all.

First time posting here so apologies if I have submitted this post in the wrong section.

So I hope someone can help I have in herttied a database which contains a "date" but in a varchar2 data type. The "date" is held in the format of: *22/03/1998 00:00*

What I need to do is convert this field to the format of: DD-MON-YYYY

Could somone please tell me how to do this please ?
