ORA-01555:snapshot too old: rollback segment number 27

Hi All,

We have this ORA error in production system. When started looking into the cause for this, we identified a long running procedure (it deletes old data from lot of tables), which takes three hours to run. And there is no commit for this entire period.

I did look the manuals and AskTom link on this error. Just wondering whether the following activities will help to avert this error.

* Will introduce commit for every 100 rows or some thing like that.
* Will increase rollback tablespace

Apart from this, just wondering, whether is it possible to increase delete process. It takes lot of time and we think this is the main concern.

PS: We use Oracle 9.2.05
