ORA-01461 in a CLOB field??

ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column
when I fill a CLOB field. The error is reproducable but when I look at the content there is nothing suspicious in there. It happens with two records out of 1095 which work well. The content is some source code of our ERP system.
I did change the character set in the registry key NLS_LANG from GERMAN_GERMANY.WE8MSWIN1252 to GERMAN_GERMANY.WE8ISO8859P1 to be able to access our 8.1.7 databases.
Has someone else seen something similar, or knows what I could do?
