ORA-01426:numeric overflow

Hi,
I am getting error number "-2147217833 - [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-01426:numeric overflow" when calling a stored procedure from VB6. My database version is 8.1.7 and the Oracle ODBC driver is also 8.1.7. The stored procedure returns parameter value of type adDouble. What's puzzling is that this error is not occurring consistently. Same return values some time works fine and sometime it give this error. Any help or suggestion will be very much appreciated.
