ORA-01417: a table may be outer joined to at most one other table

I am using a query which is like below

FROM t1, t2, t3
WHERE t1.id = t2.id
AND t1.name = t3.name (+)
AND Nvl(t1.category, t2.category) = t3.category (+)

It is giving ORA-01417: a table may be outer joined to at most one other table
