ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters

Hi,

i am using oracle 10g enterprise edition in RHEL5. i have created a database using DBCA. After setting the oracle_sid i connect as sys user and issue the startup command. i get the following error

ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters
LRM-00109: could not open parameter file '/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/db/s/initORATESTDB.ora'

But i have spfile in that location. can anyone help me out in this??????????????
