ORA-01034 - What is the reason/how to set SID

615528Jan 1 2008 — edited Jan 2 2008
Hello all
When logging to sql plus I get:

SQL> connect pg/pg
ERROR:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
Linux Error: 2: No such file or directory
SQL>

I set SID in following way

pg@ubuntux86:~$ export ORACLE_SID=PG

btw, I ve checked some other relating posts , but they did not point what is my SID and how to find this.

This is my first oracle install and here is the content of:

# tnsnames.ora Network Configuration File:

XE =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = ubuntux86)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = XE)
)
)

EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = PLSExtProc)
(PRESENTATION = RO)
)
)

and

# listener.ora Network Configuration File:

SID_LIST_LISTENER =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
(ORACLE_HOME = /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server)
(PROGRAM = extproc)
)
)

LISTENER =
(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = ubuntux86)(PORT = 1521))
)
)

DEFAULT_SERVICE_LISTENER = (XE)

Basically I am looking for some help in setting right SID or troubleshooting why right SID does not work.

Kind regards
pg
