ORA-01034: ORACLE not available

while I am connecting to database

$sqlplus uname/pwd@db_sid

SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.5.0 - Production on Thu Jul 28 11:09:02 2011

Copyright (c) 1982, 2010, Oracle. All Rights Reserved.

ERROR:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
Linux-x86_64 Error: 2: No such file or directory

And the same I also trying to connect through SQL Devloper tool ,its giving the same error.

And when I am setting . db_sid.env ,it is connecting,

Please let me know , what could be issue?
