ORA-01031: insufficient privileges - after entering CONNECT TARGET /
Hello Oracle gurus:
I'm practically a noob when it comes to utilizing RMAN (Recovery Manager). I've used RMAN many times but I've never set it up before, thus when I created a new database recently using the Database Configuration Assistant I set it to create a recovery area as well. However, I've never performed a startup mount or connected to a target before. I've researched these both as much as I've could with the few resources at my disposal and I'm getting no where.
I've got Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 64bit on Windows Server 2008. I've run into an archivelog issue where recovery_area_dest is all full, so I can't preform any further task against the database until I clear the archivelog recovery area. I've done this before plenty of times, though the problem this time is I didn't properly setup a connect target for RMAN so I am thus far unable to connect to successfully to RMAN in order to fix the archivelog recovery area.
From the command prompt entered:
rman
Then once in the recovery manager I performed the following RMAN command:
RMAN> CONNECT TARGET /
and i got the following results:
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
What are the steps I need to take in order to create a proper target with sufficient privileges so that I can correct the archivelog recovery area?
All help and advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
