ora-00910 interactive report

Hi,

I'm using Application Express 4.1.0.00.32.

On an interactive report, I have an ORA0-00910 error. I fixed it by using SUBSTR(field,1,700) instead the full field which is 4000 VARCHAR2, but max length 1300.

Can somebody explain me why this error occur?
