One of our database is experiecing problem in archiving.
This is the third time i got this error in 2 months.
ORA-00255: error archiving log name of thread num, sequence # num
As a result i clear the log group number and open the database.
but what could be the reason for this error?

RHEL AS4
oracle 9.2.0.4
