Options to revert table partitioning

Hi All -

We are planning to partition a table, in our production environment. We have done this partitioning in our Dev and Test instances already. We have been asked about about a scenario, in which the partitioning would need to be "reverted".

What are the options for reverting the table back to its original structure (if such a scenario occurred)? Are there operations that should be done prior to doing the partitioning (e.g. backup, etc.) to prepare for this?

Thanks in advance. Let me know if any of the partitioning details are needed to answer this ...
