Optimal Table Size

NapsterJun 27 2013 — edited Jun 27 2013

Hi Guys,

We are having a client who has db tables with large amounts of records (over 8000000). Possibly this is because they haven't used the data archiving...

Is there any guideline, suggestions how much data in a table should be acceptable. I know this would depend on the no of columns, frequency of the data is accessed and the indexes of the tables... But in general is there a figure I could have in my mind to say exceeding that amount will result in bad performance?

Oracle version used 9i.

Many Thanks,

Napster
