Opening other applications from webstart???

Hi
I have written a Quicktime for Java program which works fine on it's own, but when I run it using webstart I get errors.
Can webstart acces other applications, e.g. quicktime and play a movie stored in the jar file.
I thought the problem was accessing the movie from the jar file but that is not the case. I can run the jar file using java -jar Qtvp.jar and this works fine.
