Open External (Excel) file through a link

Hi,
I have a simple(?) request. In a dashboard I want a link to an external Excel file that should be opened in Excel (of course).

I tried several different ways but it doesn't work. Either I get the excel file appearing with many strange characters inside the file (as an image) or nothing happens. I also tried "file://C:\Files\Test.xls" as the URL (works when testing in the explorer).

Any ideas?
