Open default email client from Application Express

I am using Apex page to frame a email body template. Apex page contains button, onclick of this button - it should open default email client with email body template from apex page.

I tried using mailto attribute but it is limited for 256 characters.

How to open default email client with body content having more than 1000 characters from apex?
