Open a File at server using Desktop.open

hi ,
i am an new-bie to this forum and i facing an issue with opening of files at client side using Desktop.open. I am accessing an file residing at server by using SMB protocal using JCIFS.i could not figure out how to open an server file using Desktop.Open as the above
method uses java.io.file as the parameter.

let me know if there is any there way to open server files at client side.
