one-way Mac iCal and Mac-based Palm sync

807574Oct 20 2004 — edited Feb 11 2020
I use a Macintosh, and want to sync my ics calendar to the Macintosh desktop calendar (iCal) as well as to my Palm Tungsten C. I tried the jintek Palm sync tool a couple of years ago but it had too many problems.

I now have my own solution, which ought to be portable. I have a PHP script that interfaces from iCal's "subscribe" interface to ics. This lets iCal sync automatically to your ics calendar. Note that it is one way: your ics calendar appears in iCal, but there is no way to feed changes from the Mac back to ics.

Once the data is in iCal, you can use the Mac's iSync to go to a Palm (and if you get "Missing Sync", I would assume to a Pocket PC as well).

I believe I know how to get new events back to ics, but it may be a while before I have time to implement it.
