OLAP_USER & OLAP_DBA Roles

21190Nov 19 2003 — edited Nov 21 2003
What are the minimum privileges required by an OLAP User?

I have created my metadata in OLAPSYS where the metadata owner is REP_OWNER. REP_OWNER has the OLAP_DBA role granted.

I now want a number of users to access this metadata.

e.g. REP_USER Which privileges does REP_USER require. I granted REP_USER the OLAP_USER role, but when I connect to my metadata via BI Beans connection, I get the message

"No data was found in the OLAP Catalog for user REP_USER; therefore, you will not be able to create OLAP queries with this connection."

Granting REP_USER the OLAP_DBA role is not an option because the OLAP_DBA role contains DROP ANY TABLE privilege.

The Oracle 9i OLAP User Guide suggests that "To view existing metadata, you only need the CONNECT and SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE roles."

Can anybody tell me what privileges should be in the SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE

Thanks in advance
Dylan.
