OK to use bash as default shell for Oracle, instead of ksh?

6321Jan 14 2009 — edited Mar 12 2009
Hi,

I've always used ksh as the default shell for the Oracle user. However, I love the ability to use the up arrow in bash to get back previous statements. Recently, at Oracle U, I noticer their test systems had Oracle using bash as its default shell. So .. is it ok to use bash as the default shell for Oracle, even in production? We are running Oracle 9i and Apps 11.5.10.2 on Solaris 10. Are there any implications / gotchas, for the database portion? (I may need to post in an Apps forum to ask about the Apps tier).

Thanks in Advance. Marvin
