OIM & OES Role/Group Integration

Hi,
I'm pretty new to OIM and OES. We are tyring to use OIM and OES for user provising and fine grained authorization. I'm trying to understand how this will integrate with each other? We currently have company wide LDAP and custom application to provision user. Now we need to move to OIM & OES, and I've few questions?

- Can we use OIM to provision users which will be stored in LDAP?
- How the user roles provisioned in OIM will be available in OES for writing policies?
- Can OES talk to LDAP to get list of groups/roles?
- What is the use of connectors in OIM?
