OID refuses to update cn=catalogs via LDIF

409681Nov 21 2003
I use to never have a problem indexing a new attribute in OID. According the the documentation, a newly created attribute (or existing one) can be indexed if there are no entries for that attribute currently in your directory.

So I went ahead and used ldapmodify to import the following attribute in LDIF format...

dn: cn=subschemasubentry
changetype: modify
add: attributeTypes
attributetypes: ( 127.127.127.127.1.1 NAME 'tmx-configRef' DESC 'tomax.com' EQUALITY caseIgnoreMatch SYNTAX '1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.15' )

this worked fine. However I tried to index the attribute using the following LDIF...

dn: cn=catalogs
changetype: modify
add: orclIndexedAttribute
orclIndexedAttribute: tmx-configRef

This hoever gives the the following error...

modifying entry cn=catalogs
ldap_modify: Constraint violation

I verified that I was logging in to the correct host, port, user (cn=orcladmin) and passwotrd but nothing I did would make it perform. Furthor more I used the Oracle Directory Mangement tool to search for the use of my attribute and there was no use of it anywhere in my directory. I even tried a filter search using a filter with a third party tool.

So what gives? I am beginning to wonder if there is some mystical voodoo magic I need to learn.

I also read about using the catalog.sh script. But hey, I don't how to run .sh scripts under NT. This is new to me but the thing is, this use to work just fine.

Any help would be appreciated.
