OID - port 389 or no?
412527Jan 18 2004 — edited Jan 19 2004Working out a new 9.0.4 install including OID on Solaris 9. As the install guide states, ports 389 and 636 are reserved for use as part of the default Solaris install. We currently are not using LDAP or other authentication services yet - OID would be the first.
Is it safe to block these two ports from /etc/services and let OID have them, or is it better to let the installer pick different ports? What are the pros and cons to each approach?
Sorry about the newbie question - just want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row before putting an architecture in stone...
