OEM & Shared Server: how can OEM have a dedicated connection to the DB?
41286Sep 27 2006 — edited Oct 26 2006We've set up a Shared Server DB working with a separate ASM instance on an AMD64 RHEL 4 Linux system, and it all works fine, including the OEM. However, the OEM will not allow scheduling of backups (even though the test for same is OK) because RMAN returns an ORA- error that the backup cannot be done with a dispatcher connection.
Attempts to edit the $ORACLE_HOME/database/sysman/emd/targets.xml and <same_path>/sysman/config/emoms.properties files, as hinted at on one or two messages on Metalink, starting and stopping the emctl dbconsole, resulted in a lot of wasted time. We tried the 'check monitoring' pages in the oem on the database page. And we even set up a separate Service Name with a dedicated link to another Listener port to make the above changes work - all to no avail.
Any ideas on how to configure the OEM to make a dedicated connect to a Shared Server will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Charles
