OEL 8.2 and Oracle Database 19

jkinningerJul 14 2020 — edited Jul 14 2020

I was trying to submit a support request but could no longer find the link to open up a SR. So, this community has been extremely helpful so here goes.

I have provisioned an Oracle Linux 8.2 VM and plan to run Oracle Database 19c. I was looking for benefits of doing so as we want to migrate off AIX and IBM pSeries. One major benefit I was hoping to obtain was eliminating the need to relink the Oracle Databases executables after patching the OS. My plan was to use ksplice so these servers could just run and then bi-yearly perform reboots on the servers.

My question I am trying to figure out are the key benefits for running Oracle Databases on Oracle Linux over AIX on pSeries and do you still need to relink the databases if using ksplice?

Thansks!
