I am trying to make decisions based on some information regarding ODSEE 11.1.1.7 support that is not clear to me. In particular the licensing costs, support, patches, etc in the next 5 years. Clearly the writing is on the wall that DSEE is not going to be a strategic product in the Middleware lineup.
Here is what I have been able to find so far.
The Oracle Lifetime Support Policy document for Oracle Fusion Middleware located at http://www.oracle.com/us/support/library/lifetime-support-middleware-069163.pdf has these key dates.
Release - Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition 11.1.1.x
GA Date - Jul 2010
Premier Support Ends - Dec 2019
Extended Support Ends - Dec 2022
Sustaining Support Ends - Indefinite
What is premier support? We have support just not sure it its premier and not sure how to figure that out. In any even, according to this document extended support is available at an additional fee. Thats pretty open, I mean it could a modest 10% increase or a crazy 1000+% increase.
Now according to the Critical Patch Update (CPU) Program January 2018 Patch Availability Document (PAD) (Doc ID 2325393.1), the final CPU for DSEE is Oct 2019. This does not sound good! Can anybody shed light on what is going to happen with DSEE and what the licensing costs are likely to be?
