ODP.NET and Visual Studio 2010

459628Apr 16 2010 — edited Apr 26 2010
Ok, I have installed Visual Studio 2010 and I noticed that Microsoft has deprecated the built in Oracle Data Access of ".NET 4.0" (System.Data.OracleClient) and I want now to switch to ODP.NET from Oracle to provide Oracle Data Access. However, I can see only a beta version (Version 11.2.0.1.1 Beta) of ODP.NET that support Visual Studio 2010 (.NET 4.0), but can't see any link to download it and I am wondering when the final version will be released!

From the other hand, as per "http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1031203&tstart=50", I have read that I need to download and install Oracle 11g Data Access Components and do something about "listener.ora, sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora", is this true? Because I am using Oracle 10g Database version on Windows XP Professional system, so I am afraid that I will mess with the Oracle Database itself.

I am kind lost here. So, anyone can advise on what shall I do now???

Thanks in advance...
