ODIWaitForData - General Question

Gurus,
I have created a package using the ODIWaitForData tool. How do I make the package 'active'? It seems counterproductive to schedule it since it polls for data every xx seconds. Do I need to generate a scenario?

Sorry if these are stupid quesitons... I did google and search OTN for recommendations prior to submitting this query.
