ODI - Kicking of an On Demand job from ODI

Hello,

we're on 11.1.1.6. We do not have ODI Navigator (I believe this is an additional license requirement). However, we have several jobs which the users kick off manually. We have to notify IT to provide security to a specific directory on a server, Users then map to that server, and run a batch file which calls an Essbase script.

The question is, is there a better way to allow users to kick off a script using ODI? (I'm still working on the ODI Navigator option).
