ODI: Field_Fixed_Len

Hi all,
I have generated a .txt output through ODI but
I have a problem with the lenght of fields.
Every field, in fact, has exactly the setting length even if
its value is different (for example, If my value has lenght of 30 but
the setting for this field is 50, I don't want 20 spaces empty, but exactly 30).

How can I manage this issue?

p.s. I'd like not using trim functions but something like varchar function.
