ODI 12C GUID: What is the level of uniqueness

2782749Aug 25 2015 — edited Aug 25 2015

Hi,

In my current project we are using ODI 12C for the data integration. We have separate Master Respository for both Developement and Test Work Repository. Now we are planning to migrate the developement objects into test. Could you please explain if there could be any issue related to the GUID. Also what is the level of uniqueness GUID maintains. In ODI 11G as long as your repository IDs are different the developed objects in those repositories would have different or unique IDs. But in ODI 12C the GUIDs are separate from repository ID. So how they maintain the uniqueness. When they say the GUID creates object ID at global level, what is the global level.

I believe these are conceptual questions and i could find answers to these somewhere but i tried a lot and i could't. So, could you please explain this or point me to some resource online.

Thanks,

SM
