ODBC performance - 10g

6448Jan 17 2006 — edited Jun 21 2006
I just recently upgraded from Oracle 8 to Oracle 10g. I have a Microsoft Access application which has attached tables from the Oracle database using the Oracle ODBC driver. Previously everything worked just fine. Since upgrading to 10g and installing the new client software (with ODBC) on computers the Access application has got very slow - accessing somewhat large tables or running queries against those tables.

Current ODBC driver is version 10.2.0.1 and the previous version was 8.1.6.0. I have found if I replace the 10.2x version of SQLORA32.DLL with the 8.1X version, everything runs fine again. Why would this be? Is there a problem using the 8.1x version of the ODBC driver against the 10g database?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill
